meet the 2010-11 committee
President
This year’s President is Amy Swendener who hails from across the water (not Govan, the USA!).
If any of us are abducted on a foreign caving expedition (e.g. to England) she is the one who will negotiate with the kidnappers, possibly offering herself as a replacement hostage. That’s how nice she is.
Be nice to her or she will make us stay in the nastiest huts and go down the crawliest caves.

Secretary
This year the Secretary’s post is being held jointly by Gwenllian Fflur and Nikki Hughes.
.
Gwenllian is from Wales. She once got so confused outside Lost John’s Cave that she briefly wore a pair of Hugh’s pants on her head. This is her on the right, with more traditional headgear.

If in the pub you spot a grumpy middle-aged bloke who is going decidedly thin on top, that’s probably Hugh Penney, seen here in typical pose. Fantastic as it may sound, Hugh was actually a student at Glasgow until a couple of years ago (thus being one of the oldest people in the country to have a Young Person’s Railcard!) He was one of the founding members of GUPA so if you have an awful trip one day please write to: president@(delete-this-bit)gupa.co.uk to complain (to Amy). Hugh hasn’t always been middle-aged and grumpy. Once he was young and grumpy. If you ply Hugh with enough beer he will regale/bore you with tales of foreign expeditions. Don’t get a lift in his car unless you like Radio 4. Email: penney.hugh@(remove-this-bit)gmail.com

He is helped on the technical side* by Stuart Meldrum (seen on the left) ........who ran the website until recently. He too was a student at Glasgow ........until a couple of years ago and is still involved with GUPA, although he ........isn’t often in the pub on a Thursday night (not our pub anyway) as he lives in the Scottish Borders.
......* OK, Stuart does all the technical stuff and if the website disappears one day it will be because of something Hugh did. Stuart picks up the pieces.
